It has been 37 years since the first public-ally available game console. The audience is always changing because the technology is getting better. you have to think of game production and distribution in three sections.. Past, Present and Future.

There were 5 Main Producers of gaming consoles

-Atari
-Nintendo

-SEGA

-Sony

-Microsoft

TIMELINE.

1975 - Atari made the game Pong, before the game was created only arcade games were available.

1976 - Atari then released the console "Atari 2600" and they earned 5 billion dollars in profits

1982 - The game E.T ruined everything for Atari. And this game was their downfall

1983 - Nintendo created their first gaming console. The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)

1989 - The Handheld gaming was born with the Nintendo Gameboy

1989 - SEGA created the gaming console "Mega Drive" and it became the best selling console in the market

1994 - Sony created the console "PlayStation". The console then out performed SEGA

1996 - Nintendo created one of their most popular consoles. The "Nintendo 64"

2000 - Sony Created their next console.. the PS2 (PlayStation 2)

2001 - SEGA stopped creating consoles and Microsoft created the XBOX. Followed by Nintendo's GameCube

2004 - Sony Created the first ever slimline console. They Slimmed down the original PS2

2005 - Xbox Created their newest console "XBOX 360"

2006 - Nintendo then created their newest console "WII". Sony Also created their next console the "PS3"  which was released the same year

2009 - Sony then created their next slimline console also know as the "PS3 Slim"

2010 - Followed in the  footsteps of Sony and created the "XBOX 360 Slim"

2012 - Nintendo have announced their newest console to be released later in the year. the console will be called "Nintendo WII U"
